Melissa Rose - Reflexologist
Melissa is dedicated to her career as a Complementary Health professional and is a member of The International Federation of Reflexologists.
Melissa has added to her skills in Reflexology, studying Chi and Light touch Reflexology. These incorporate techniques from Traditional Chinese medicine and Indian Ayurvedic medicine. These approaches add an extra dimension to her Reflexology treatments. In both Chi and Light touch Reflexology, the subtlety of touch and interaction with the client’s energy system can produce rapid and significant results.
Over the past 5 years Melissa has gained experience working in different settings in the Complementary Therapies industry. She has offered treatments on-site worked and in Therapy centres as both practitioner and administrator. She has also worked with charities such as Capability Scotland and Health in Mind.
Reflexology
In Reflexology the whole body is treated by accessing the bodies’ energy via Reflex, or Reflected, areas on the clients’ feet. The Reflexologist stimulates any congested or stagnant energy, which has an impact in body areas where the physiological function is impaired. Reflexology does this by stimulating and working with the bodies’ energy or Chi; the underlying energy behind all the processes of the body, also responsible for its healing ability. In this way Reflexology works to restore health.
Because Reflexology activates the bodies own ability to heal itself, it can assist in balancing hormones, relaxing the nervous system, stimulating the release of toxins, aiding digestive processes and boosting energy and motivation levels.

Indian Head Massage
Indian Head massage is a great de-stressor. It involves quick, stimulating massage moves that increase circulation, and slower massage moves to relieve stress-generated muscle tension. It also aids lymphatic drainage through the lymph glands of the head, neck and upper body.
Restricted blood flow in the upper back, neck and scalp can lead to migraines, eye strain and a tense and painful upper back. Indian Head Massage targets these areas. It is particularly beneficial for those with jobs that involve using a computer where tension can develop in the upper body, sometimes leading to repetitive strain injury.
Indian Head Massage also stimulates the release of endorphins from the brain, relieving pain and emotional stress, and helping to improve concentration and focus. To target areas of tension effectively, I incorporate pressure points and facial Reflexology.

Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese healing system discovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the late nineteenth century. Dr Usui was a Buddhist priest and studied up to the highest level in the Chinese martial art and energy balancing system Chi Kung.
Reiki is healing energy that works with the bodies Chi.
‘Rei’ is translated as divine wisdom guiding the functioning of the Universe which understands the purpose behind problems, and how to heal them.
‘Ki’ or Chi is translated as the life energy that flows through all living things.
Reiki can support the body to deal with any physical, mental or emotional condition. It is particularly beneficial after a sudden trauma or when going through a stressful time, to calm and settle the client’s whole energy system. It is also helpful for chronic conditions, giving the body an energy boost to shift long established illness patterns, and address the underlying cause of symptoms.
